Clannad star Moya Brennan says the family band is recovering from the shocking death of founding member Noel Duggan last month.
His legendary Donegal group will be playing Dublin’s 3Arena next month, but that last show in Ireland will be on February 18.
Moya said: “I spoke with Noel two weeks before his death and he was looking forward to performing at the 3Arena. sunday world.
“He’s saying, ‘I’ll get well now to join 3Arena after Hallowe’en is over.’ He was looking forward to it.”
Recalling the night he heard that Noel had passed away on October 15, Moya said: “I got a phone call from my sister saying, ‘I have bad news. It was a real, real shock. Noel was out to eat when he had a heart attack.
Noel (73) and his identical twin, Padraig, passed away in 2016 and were also members of the group, roughly the same age as the other three Clannad members, their niece and nephew being Moya and her brothers Pól and Ciarán.
Clannad, who were on their last world tour as they closed the curtain after 50 years, performed all over Europe.
