Cloudflare Outage: Websites around the world stopped working properly due to a major internet outage

Many websites stop working properly due to a major internet outage.

The problems appear to be the result of problems at Cloudflare, an internet infrastructure provider that powers much of the internet.

It is not yet clear if the outage of RTE.ie and its apps this morning is due to the Cloudflare issue. The national broadcaster’s services are now back online.

Many websites rely on the company’s tools to actually make their information and media available to users, which means Cloudflare’s problems quickly hit other seemingly unaffiliated websites.

People who visited these websites saw error messages instead of the usual pages. “Eyeballs trying to reach Cloudflare sites in affected regions will see 500 errors,” the company said on its website.

Shortly after the issue was announced, Cloudflare stated that it had found the cause of the issue and was implementing a fix. It then said the fix was in place and was “monitoring” it for more problems.
