The popular high street supermarket Co-op has urgently recalled two items over concerns shoppers could eat them out of date due to a labeling mix-up.
Co-op Peri Peri Chicken Pasta Bowl and Co-op Marie Rose Layered Salad with Shrimp are being recalled for being labeled with a use by date of July 1, 2022 instead of June 1, 2022.
The recall notice warns that after the June 1 use-by date, there is a risk of bacterial growth that can cause illness if consumed.
Consumption data can be found on perishable foods such as meat products or ready meals.

According to the Food Standards Agency: “A food sell-by date is about safety. This is the most important date to remember. You can eat food up to the expiration date, but not after it.”
For the Co-op customers who bought the two products in question, this could lead them to believe they are safe to eat when they are not.
These are the two items that have been recalled:
Co-op Peri Peri Chicken Pasta Bowl
Pack size: 280g
Use by: July 1, 2022
Co-op Shrimp Marie Rose Layered Salad
Pack size: 280g
Use by: July 1, 2022
Customers who purchased the affected items are advised not to eat them and instead return them to a store near you for a full refund.
Co-op also puts point-of-sale notices in their stores, explaining why the products are being recalled and telling them what to do once they’ve bought the products.
The Food Standards Agency issues Product Recall Information Notices to inform consumers and local authorities of food-related issues.
