Coincidentally: KFC China’s adorable dancing Psyduck toy is an internet sensation

Would you be surprised if we told you Psyduck is one of them? Pokemon Series director Junichi Masuda’s favorite Pokémon? The clueless, dimwitted yellow duck has a legion of fans for his often confused behavior in the Pokémon anime. Psyduck is actually a very smart pocket monster, we will let you know! Nonetheless, Misty’s own little friend has inspired a range of merchandise over the years. But we think we may have found the best.

For Children’s Day on June 1st, KFC China is running a promotion where every kid’s meal comes with a free Pokémon toy – either a Pikachu or a Psyduck. And look, Pikachu is cute, but we think KFC China did a great job with the Duck Pokémon.

weplayswitch on Tiktok shared all the goodies you can get from KFC China right now and honestly, they’re all pretty adorable! But Psyduck is absolutely the star of the show because it dances.

One thing we want to say is that it is pretty big for fast food promotional toys. Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad (@ZhugeEX) shared a video of the little fella on Twitter, which gives a good look at the little (big?) movements. Look out!

From the Water-type Pokémon that hops up and down to it that spins left and right, Psyduck has understandably won the hearts of many — especially with the way it moves its hands up and down. These outlandish dance moves have lit up Chinese social media, and the dancing duck has gone viral with fans’ creative interpretations of the duck. We’ll share some of our favorites here.

First, this Psyduck is coming in very handy in the courtroom – maybe we’ll see her in the next one Ace Attorney Game?

Someone strapped Mecha Wings onto their Psyduck, creating the ultimate Pokemon killing machine. Is this inspiration for the next Pokemon Scarlet & Violet gimmick?

Others have dressed their psyduck in a variety of outfits, complete with plaid scarves, floral wreaths, and hula girl skirts.

Or maybe just a small army of Psyduck toys is all you need for a slice of joy each morning.

There are tons of these videos circulating on social media right now – but the toy’s popularity has unfortunately had some dire consequences. As Daniel Ahmad shared above, since the toy is so popular and KFC stores across China are running out, people have started listing the toy on eBay for over $100, with the most expensive being $120 plus $25 Shipping costs. It’s cute, but it’s not that cute.

Still, these beautiful videos will be enough to keep us going for a few more days. If you would like more Psyduck items, can we interest you in a Psyduck teapot/watering can?
