Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson solve the mystery of whether you can say ‘feck’ on US television

Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson answered the question of whether you can say the word ‘feck’ on US television.

After starring on Saturday Night Live, the pair appeared on Stephen Colbert’s Late Late Show, sparking some conversation about what you can and can’t say on CBS television.

Irish actors came to Colbert’s sofa to talk about their new film The Banshees Of Inisheerin, written and directed by Martin McDonagh, and while Farrell was explaining a scene from the film, he spoke from ‘feckin’.

“I said ‘feckin’, I flipped the ‘U’ and put ‘E’ in it, very quickly; you are welcome,” said the Dublin-born star.

Colbert replied, “I’m curious if CBS would beep like that.”

After the confusion, the movie’s official Twitter account tweeted: “Can you say ‘Feckin’ on CBS? Ask a few friends? “

Belatedly replied: “A very good question, we are investigating right now.”

Shortly after the tweet, the Late Late Show posted an excerpt from Farrell and Gleeson’s appearance on the show, which beeped the word ‘feckin’ during the interview.

They captioned the post: “Update our bosses said no.”

Father Jack won’t be impressed.
