Confidence building as Everton exits the relegation zone – Vitalii Mykolenko

Vitalii Mykolenko insisted confidence in Everton had grown after they escaped the Premier League relegation zone.

The Ukraine international’s impressive volley helped the Toffees move from the bottom three after a 2-1 win at Leicester on Sunday.

Mason Holgate’s header sealed the win and Mykolenko believes they can continue to improve after Frank Lampard’s side clinched their first away win since August.

“With every game I feel more confident,” he told the club’s official website.

“The coach gave me a lot of confidence, especially in the breaks between games when we had the opportunity to work on the training ground.

“I had talks with him and after that I felt like I was getting more and more confident.

“The most important thing was by far three points for us. The game was very difficult but we come away with a win and that makes me the happiest.

“The remaining games are all about winning. It doesn’t matter who we play against.

“We need three points in every game – and we will strive for that.”

Leicester equalized through Patson Daka’s first goal since February but remained 14th after defeat ended a disappointing week after being eliminated by Roma in the Europa Conference League semi-finals.

“It’s very disappointing,” Daka told LCFC TV. “The most disappointing thing is that we were in control of the game.

“We did everything right up to the set piece, which is the most frustrating for us.

“We started really well. I think that’s something we’ve done in the last couple of games – we started well.

“Football is a game of chances, so if you don’t take your chances and the other team takes their chances, whoever takes their chances will win the game.

“The result doesn’t match the way we played the game. It’s so frustrating for us.” Confidence building as Everton exits the relegation zone – Vitalii Mykolenko
