Constance Marten: Footage shows a missing couple near the A259 in Sussex
New footage shows a missing couple and their newborn baby heading into the Sussex countryside.
Constance Marten, her partner Mark Gordon, 48 – a convicted sex offender – and their four-week-old baby have been missing for a month.
The new photo, captured by CCTV and released by the Met Police, shows the couple fleeing Newhaven.
The trio were dropped off in a taxi just outside the Newhaven Ferry entrance at 4.56am on Sunday 8th January.
Then they walked to where the A259 crosses the B2109.
They were seen around 6am sheltering from the rain under the overpass.
They walked down Cantercrow Hill into the fields beyond at around 6.15am on Sunday 8 January, the latest CCTV images show.
The road is a cul-de-sac but leads up paths into the South Downs.
They carried a number of bags and their blue tent, and officials believe they later camped in the area, although given the time that had passed, they could have traveled a considerable distance.
The family have been missing since their car broke down and caught fire on the M61 on January 5.
CCTV images show Constance and Mark just after unloading their newborn baby’s pram in Newhaven. Constance was also caught on CCTV just before unloading the stroller.

Met Police believe the couple and baby are camping in the Sussex countryside.
“Previous appeals have resulted in around 300 calls from members of the public, but unfortunately they have not resulted in the couple and their baby being located,” said Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford of the Met’s East Area Command.
“While we are very grateful to everyone who has already called, we have yet to hear from anyone who has found the couple since Sunday 8th.
“I appeal in particular to people who may have spent time in the countryside near Newhaven and elsewhere in Sussex to think carefully about whether they have seen Constance and Mark in the past four weeks. Given the time that has passed, they may have traveled further, so I need to hear from anyone who may have seen them further away as well.
Because Ms. Marten gave birth without medical assistance just a day or two before she disappeared and is believed to have been restless since then, police said finding the baby “remains our top priority.”
