There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to raising a child.
Not all adults and children are the same, nor are all situations the same, which means it can’t be treated the same way.
Mother-of-three Fawna shares opinions on TikTok about her controversial parenting style, which includes making her kids pay rent at 16 and letting them swear.
Fawna, who uses the username @ tru_n8v on the platform, listing the rules she has in a stitch with another TikToker @ kathleen.jernigan who asked users to share parenting rules that others might disagree with.
“I might lose some followers and maybe get some hate but you know, what it is,” said the mother.
Strong wording warning.

Fawna then goes through four rules she has that may be controversial to some, they include:
“At my house, at 13, you’re allowed to swear, as long as you use it in the right context and you don’t disrespect adults,” she said.
“You WILL say Madam, you WILL say Him, you WILL respect.
“When my kids were small, I would have breakfast and everything ready in the morning and yes, they would be taken care of, very well, happy and healthy… but no one in Some of them are allowed to disturb me, touch me, nothing until I drink my first cup of coffee.”
She added that yes, her children follow this rule and they are perfectly fine with it.

“At 16, they need to get a job, a driver’s license and they have to start paying rent,” she continued.
The rent, she explained, will be put aside until they are ready to move out. She will then give it back to them so they have a “little egg” to help them set up.
Since being posted, Fawna’s video has been viewed more than 666,000 times and attracted more than 2,600 comments.
One said: “My daughter is 14 and we let her bother her as long as she doesn’t do it too much or disrespect us.”
Another wrote: “Honestly this is a really good and really smart idea.”
“And believe me, parents know when you decide to be ‘disrespectful’, they are from very different backgrounds,” a third asserted.
Another added: “LOVE that you set boundaries early in the morning. It’s a good idea for your mental health and your own space.”
But the rule that really got everyone talking was the one about her charging her kids’ rent. While some people agree with Fawna and say they want to do the same when their baby is old enough, others are not so sure.
One said: “The only thing I PERSONALLY dislike about the rent is that as parents it’s our job to provide for them, we have to save them money.”
Another user said: “Hmm, I love the idea of renting. Make them responsible for their $$.”
“Rent rules are genius,” said a third.
