Corn is king again as price hike forces US farmers to plant

blank

Corn is again the top US crop after rising grain prices prompted farmers to shrug off weather concerns and high fertilizer costs to plant more than expected while cutting back on soybeans.

Hicago corn fell to its lowest level since early February after the US Department of Agriculture said growers will plant 89.9 million acres, up slightly from the March estimate. Soybean seeding, which has overtaken corn for only the third time in a century, fell 3% to 88.3 million acres, still the third largest ever realized.
