Coronation Street: Lydia threatens Adam on the street

Coronation Street viewers were desperate for answers after it was confirmed newcomer Lydia Chambers was behind the recent torture of Adam Barlow on the ITV soap.

This all escalated in the final scenes as Lydia began tearing Adam’s life apart and framed him with an affair.

With hotel visits, shady bank statements and a secret phone, Lydia has stitched Adam together with his wife Sarah Platt, and no one believes he’s innocent.

Lydia has told Adam all about her plan to bring him down, while not explaining exactly why she’s doing it — other than “dismantling his life.”

Since everything is linked to her past, here’s everything we know so far…

Lydia Chambers was introduced as working for a customer of the factory where Sarah works.

She soon became friends with Sarah and, after losing her previous job, began working at the factory.

It was soon revealed that the couple had dated while they were at university together, and Adam seems to recall that their romance was fairly brief.

From two to six months, he’s not exactly sure, to be honest – while Lydia has hinted there’s a lot more to their romance than he’s let on.

Lydia is yet to confirm her exact reasons for targeting him, but has confirmed that something happened in her past.

In a recent episode, Adam was shocked and admitted he had no idea what he had done to her all those years ago, but Lydia remained shy as she urged him to change his mind.

Lydia said, “Do I really need to explain?” before clarifying that she was in no way interested in actually having an affair with him.

When he demanded answers, she said, “You know what that is, Adam? payback Everything you deserve and more,” she told him, “Think back, Mr. Memory.”

Adam protested that he had no idea what she was up to, sure they weren’t “serious” and had only been dating a few months.

Lydia looked furious at that claim before vowing to destroy him – suggesting he did that to her over a decade ago.

She asked, “Is that really all you think happened?” as if there was more he didn’t confess that he clearly didn’t know about.

He said, “Tell me what happened then,” and she said, “You screwed up my life, you took me apart piece by piece.”

When she told him it was too late to apologize, she swore, “I’ll tell you what I’m going to do, Adam. I’m going to dissect your life like you dissected mine, piece by piece, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Viewers have been wondering if he will leave due to the dramatic storyline

Viewers have wondered if he will be leaving due to the dramatic storyline, although that hasn’t been addressed.

Actor Sam has recently admitted he’s been considering his future with the ITV soap amid the new storyline.

He explained, “Sometimes you pick up a script and I feel like I’m doing the same scene as I was 12 months ago.

“At first I was a little concerned about it because we did a story when Adam was having an affair with Carla. I don’t know if it’s too early for more of this?

Sarah doesn’t believe Adam

“Tina and I went from working together and being in harmony to suddenly being at each other’s throats. So it was really difficult to do that again so quickly.

“Sometimes it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we’ve been in this story for five and a half months.

“I definitely feel like it needs to be recalibrated. Who is this character I’m playing now? As an actor, the confusion that Adam feels kinda makes me feel.”
