Jake Wood is another big character who passed away recently
Max Branning actor Jake Wood departed in February 2021 after 15 years on the show.
He’s one of the big names to go, but it’s really EastEnders’ decision to give his character a break.
BILLIONhe is 49 years old first appeared as Max in the BBC soap in 2006.
Jake said on Instagram: “After 15 years, I will be leaving Eastenders at the end of this year.
“I loved playing Max Branning, who, among other things, during that time went through 4 marriages, 10 love affairs, 4 children (2 died from falling from Queen Vic’s roof), buried living, watching unwanted DVDs in Xmas and perhaps the most painful of all… shared a hot tub with Ian Beale.
“I made some really great friends while on the show and I will miss everyone there. I’m grateful they left the door open for Max and I’m excited to see new horizons out there.
“Thanks to everyone who has sent me messages this week, I appreciate the love and support.”
Along with the caption, Jake shared a snap of his cracked figure as he posed in a pair of shorts with a moody expression on his face.
Executive producer Jon Sen previously said in a statement about Jake’s departure: “Jake is a truly amazing actor and EastEnders has been incredibly lucky to have him for so long.
“We have a big storyline for Max that will kick off in the coming weeks and we’re all very excited to see that unfold.”
