HE is best known for playing Corrie’s villain Jez Quigley, but Lee Boardman looks very different these days.
The 49-year-old is now a silver fox and has a bushy beard – 22 years after playing the iconic character.
Lee first appeared on the soap in 1997 and was a gangster, drug dealer and murderer.
Viewers will remember him killing Tony Horrocks (Lee Warburton) and Des Barnes (Philip Middlemiss).
He also got Leanna Battersby (Jane Danson) hooked on drugs.
Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) testified against him in court about the murders of Tony and Des – but somehow, he wasn’t found guilty.
In retaliation, he beat Steve and left him to die.
Steve’s (Charles Lawson) father Jim McDonald takes it upon himself to attack Jez, who later dies in hospital from his injuries.
Since then Lee has had countless television roles – appearing in Trolled, Death in Paradise and Rome.
Speaking of leaving Corrie, Lee previously said, “He’s not the type of character that can stay on the street. He’s so bad. I discussed it with producer Jez and asked if she’d be okay with it. remind me to kill you. I told her to go to town by my exit.”
He continued, “I always thought of Coronation Street as a shop window and never thought I would be the type of character that would stay around.
“I didn’t want to be stereotyped. Also, I was worried that the character would get in the water. I’ve seen that happen in other movies – these people come in and they’re really evil but after a while time has nowhere their character to go.
“People like Jez exist and they’re never cold or fickle, and I don’t want him to change on screen. I’ve worked so hard with him that the last thing I want is for him to be back. should tone up and finish up the motel at Emily Bishop’s.
“As an actor, you can never feel too comfortable. If you want a regular job, you don’t become an actor, and in Corrie, it’s easy to turn it into a job. be normal and keep making money but I have a low boredom threshold and I keep pushing myself With Jez I made a monster but I did the best I could with him Arrived time to move on.”
