CORONATION Street star Charlie Condou was heartbroken to reveal that his beloved sister had passed away.
The actor took to Twitter to confirm the news that Niki Shisley tragically passed away in a battle with ovarian cancer “a few days ago”.
Former soap star Charlie, 49 years old, who played Marcus dent on the ITV show, revealed how his beloved sister Niki passed away from cancer.
Sharing a post on the JustGiving page supporting women victims of domestic violence, he revealed a fundraiser had been established in her memory.
“In memory of my beautiful sister who passed away a few days ago,” Charlie wrote to fans, former co-stars and celebrity friends who ran to comfort him.
Coronation Street actress Jane Danson began: “Charlie, so sad to hear this. Sending love to you and your family.”
Former The Great British Bake Off host Sue Perkins added: “I’m so sorry”, while Radio 2’s Gabby Roslin wrote: “Sending you my deepest sympathies and love.”
Charlie’s older sister Niki – a famous author who released the book Fragile – has been battling aggressive ovarian cancer for many years.
The auto man was undergoing his third round of aggressive chemotherapy when Charlie told fans the news of the diagnosis back in 2019.
“My incredible sister, a true fighter, role model, inspiration and all that’s good,” he wrote under a picture of him cuddling her.
“She’s just started chemotherapy for her third round of cancer with grace, serenity, and an abundance of acceptance. I have so much respect. I love you.”
Charlie’s alter ego Marcus joined the cast on Coronation Street in 2007 – and was a standout racing runner on the soap until he quit seven years later.
After his stint in filmmaking, he took time off to appear on London’s West End, starring in the theatrical film “Next Fail”.
In 2019, Charlie joined Holby City in a cameo, playing Doctor Ben Sherwood.
Earlier this month, Charlie confused fans when he started a game of guessing who the “ugliest celebrity” he’s ever met – hint it’s a former actor.
He asked fans on Twitter to confess about the kind and nasty celebrities they’ve met – saying the Lord of the Rings Viggo Mortensen was his favorite.
“Nastiest – whom I have worked closely with for a long time,” he added.
