Coronation Street star Sam Robertson plays Adam Barlow and is currently caught up in a love triangle. The actor feels like he’s replaying the same scenes as before
Coronation Street’s Sam Robertson has hinted he might quit ITV soap about his current love triangle.
His character, Adam Barlow, is having an affair with his wife Sarah Platt after a Fatal Attraction-style brawl by his former on-screen lover Lydia Chambers.
But actor Sam, 36, feels the story is too similar to when Adam cheated on cobbler’s Carla Connor in late 2020.
The fight with Sarah, played by Tina O’Brien, 38, and the battle with Lydia, played by Rebecca Ryan, 30, left Sam confused because
real life future.
He sighed: “Sometimes you pick a script and I feel like I’m doing that scene like I did 12 months ago.
“I had a bit of trouble with it at first because we were doing a storyline where Adam had an affair with Carla. I don’t know if it’s too early to do more of that?
“Tina and I worked together and got along so well that it suddenly became a relationship. So it’s hard to do it again so soon.

“Sometimes it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, it’s been five and a half months that we’ve been involved in this storyline.
“I definitely feel it needs recalibrating. Who is this character that I am playing now? With the confusion that Adam was feeling, I felt that I was an actor. ”
Sam, the son of the late Mike Baldwin, joined the soap as a teenager in 2004 for three years, going back six years.
However, he enjoyed working with Rebecca because it felt new.
“It’s something different – sometimes familiarity breeds contempt,” explains Sam.
“As an actor, you are used to playing different characters. Now I’m at a stage where I haven’t played another character in over six years. So it was like, “Wow, this is crazy”. “
Sam, who is taking a break from several months of strenuous filming, says working during the pandemic has been a challenge.
He added: “I came home in the evening and checked into the hotel alone. Sometimes you feel like you’re stuck in a race. Work takes over your life.”
