Coronation Street’s Sean Wilson is unrecognizable 16 years after Dancing on Ice and giving up his fame to make cheese

CORONATION street star Sean Wilson has left fans in shock after stepping out of the limelight following a Dancing On Ice appearance.

The actor – who played Martin Platt in the ITV drama – hit the ice the year after his character, who has spent two decades on screen, left the cobblestones.

Sean, 56, is now living a quieter life away from the silver screen after more than twenty years on TV in Silent Witness, Casualty and Corrie.

Playing Martin in 1,641 episodes, he is a fan favorite and is known for his youthful looks, clean shave, and thick brown hair.

Sean is said to have been dropped from the show after he refused to participate in a storyline that saw his character have an affair with a teenage girl.

He wrote in The Great Northern Cook Book of his decision to leave – explaining: “By 2005, I knew my term on the Street had to end.

“An editorial decision was made that Martin should embark on an underage relationship, which made me uncomfortable.

“I picked up my coat and left that September, ending 21 happy years with a wonderful family on set. I would do it again, but never with Corrie.”

Sean briefly returned to the ring in 2018 – years after he competed in the first series of the Dancing On Ice skating competition, where he was eliminated in fifth place.

Soon after, the star completely retired from the celebrity world to pursue her passion and focus on a career as a chef and cheesemaker.

Now unrecognizable with its shorter, yellow locks, the star has cooked in several Michelin-starred restaurants and has her own company, Saddleworth Cheese.

He released his first book, The Great Northern Cookbook, in 2012 – and had an accompanying Channel 5 television series released in 2013.

Sean isn’t the only star on Coronation Street who is now unrecognizable, with fans already shocked by one of the character’s changing looks over the years.

Hunky actor Sam Robertson, 36 years old, was just 18 years old when he joined the cobbles as Ken Barlow’s ill-fated grandson, Adam.

And the pictures from the soap show a baby-faced actor with soft hair – a far cry from the viewers who have grown to love.

Adam Barlow hit first famous street in 2004 after baby-faced Robertson dropped out of drama and English courses at Manchester Uni to throw herself into the role.
