Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd opened up about the upcoming TV series on the soap as his character David Platt reacts to threats. Max Turner’s chilling secret may be revealed.
The troubled teenager will be involved in a love triangle between Daisy Midgeley, Nicky Wheatley and Daniel Osbourne next week – and it could have devastating consequences.
The movie is triggered by Max’s latest offense of spreading revealing photos of his ex Nicky around the school.
On the street, Daniel defends Max for ruining Nicky’s life, only for David Platt’s father to jump in to protect Max.
But Daniel has had enough and suggests that it’s time for Amy to know who made her drink spike – saying that if Max doesn’t tell her, he will.
Actor Corrie Jack has now said that the situation makes his character David feel “heavy duty” because of his past with Max’s biological father.
He said: “He was always trying to protect Max and I don’t know why. I think it must have something to do with the fact that he is not biologically his and that Max doesn’t know that he covered up his father’s murder.
“Then his mother passed away. He has Lily, David’s biological child, but he always tries to do a little better for Max because maybe he thinks well, he has no parents. ”
Jack has said that David’s initial response to the accusations will be to excuse Max’s behavior because Nicky was a former sex worker and that’s something students should know.
But Jack added that his character’s position will start to shift as Daniel makes Nicky’s case, saying: “Daniel was like, ‘She could lose her job, she might lose her home. And then Daniel said he was going to tell Amy about the spike. “
This is where Jack says his character realizes he and Max need to “come up with a plan and a story” to make sure they “don’t do anything wrong,” which includes Max. participated in angering Amy despite previously threatening to report him to the police.
He added: “So I think he’s on Max’s side, he’s trying to get him out of it as best he can.
“But I mean, he’s making a stick for himself because he’s letting him get away with everything.”
Coronation Street airs at 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV and streams on ITV Hub.
