Coronation Road fans were surprised to see a Benidorm star appear on the Cobbles field tonight.
Tony Maudsley – best known to ITV audiences as hairdresser Kenneth Du Beke from the hit comedy show – had a regular role in Cobbles, where he played George Shuttleworth, but fans watched the show Tonight’s show was surprised to see another Benidorm star on the Street as Maria’s political ambitions continued to grow.
Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) is busy with her political campaign to be elected local councilor for Weatherfield, and during a special press event she called local reporters to join when she planted trees.
However, she is soon interrupted by rival Bernard Barnes, who brings along two soccer players and steals all the attention of Maria, who is fuming. Exasperated, she desperately seeks help from Phill on how she can defeat her opponent.
Bernard is played by Benidorm creator Derren Litten and fans who watched the show tonight took to Twitter to share their surprise at seeing the Benidorm star on the show.
“Bloke that’s the creator of the comedy Benidorm #Corrie“, one person wrote.
One second added: “That’s @DerrenLittenthe creator of Benidorm on #Corrie“as a third person shared:” Just spotted you on #Corrie. ”
“There’s no shameful on-screen reunion with @TonyMaudsley1 #DREAM TEAM“, a fourth admitted.
Derren announced his appearance on ITV soap, just hours before his footage aired.
“Bernard Barnes makes a brief appearance on @itvcorrie tonight (and a little more on Monday). I cannot express how honored I am to be a speck of dust on the timeline of the world’s longest-running television soap opera – Coronation Road,” he wrote.

Samia has previously talked about her character’s enormous political ambitions.
“After what happened to Maria’s son, Liam, over the summer with his asthma, it happened naturally. I understand why she did it,” she said. when discussing the character’s plan to run for office.
“She’s doing this for the right reasons, so I think Maria has integrity and would probably make a much better councilor than she is. [election rival] Sally Metcalfe, who is motivated by status and feels important. But maybe I’m biased! “
