Coronation Road: Jude Riordan’s brother joins soap
Coronation Street fans were in awe on Wednesday night, when young favorites chess rival Sam Blakeman was revealed to be someone close to home.
Sam actor Jude Riordan joined his real-life brother for the scenes, which he soon announced on his social media.
Zach played a young fellow Oscar on ITV, seemingly only once, for the episode.
Things get awkward when the opponents go head to head in a game of chess, in which Sam soon takes the lead.
But Oscar is a huge loser, as he refuses to accept his defeat and rejects Sam’s attempt to shake hands – before dashing out of the room.

Even so, after the episode, Sam’s actor Jude revealed all about his real-life brother who was guest-starring with him.
Sharing a shot in the soap, Jude posted on Twitter: “When bringing your Brother to work. Sam smashed Oscar out of the pub. BEST DAY so far @itvcorrie #bubblebrothers #samvoscar #corrie .”
It appeared to be a Covid-related decision, with Jude writing “bubble brothers” in the tweet – with siblings apparently in the same household.

He also revealed that they are no strangers to facing each other in chess, telling one fan: “He plays irl a bit so we play together at home.”
Viewers took to Twitter the moment and Jude’s confession that he and the actor who played Oscar had a real-life relationship.
