Coronation Street star Alan Halsall will take on Jamie Kenna on wet concrete next week as the pair, who play Fiz’s ex Tyrone and her current compulsion Phill, face off after it was revealed that the latter was writing a book about her murderous ex-husband John Stape
Coronation Street star Alan Halsall says his upcoming fight in wet concrete with Jamie Kenna is painful but worthy of the film’s classic laughs.
The couple, who play Fiz’s ex-Tyrone and she squeezes Phill, will be scrapped next week, after it emerged that Phill was writing a book about her murderous ex-husband John Stape.
When asked if he liked the scenes, which featured the couple wrapped up in their panties, Alan admitted: “No, not really.
“Of course, when we have a Zoom meeting that says, ‘Do you mind taking off your pants?’, we’re actors, this is what we’re paid to do.
“But I can’t say I was looking forward to it. It was a cold day so getting wet in a garden somewhere was not a very pleasant thing. “
Audiences were delighted to see the couple wearing a unicorn and an inflatable sword at Christmas.
Alan is 5ft 7in while Jamie is 6ft 4in.
“I think writers quite like the fight scene between the little man and the big man,” he sighed.
“So this time they thought they were going to dip us in wet concrete. I think people appreciate that humor.
“It’s classic Corrie.”
Jamie said he felt insecure about his figure after agreeing to strip for the spin-off.
“Then I went on a package vacation where I stayed very close to the San Miguel faucet while Alan basically moved into his local gym.”
As Phill scours the damp concrete, he discovers that he’s lost an engagement ring despite Tyrone’s hopes for him and Fiz.
The scenes will begin on ITV next Monday and run throughout the week.
