Loose Women: Corrie’s Kevin Kennedy Says He’s Going Back To Soaps

Coronation Street fans may soon see a blast of the past on screen, as Curly Watts actor Kevin Kennedy has said he’s “interested” in returning to the series.

The iconic character was last seen on cobblestone in 2003, but the 60-year-old has strongly hinted that he could re-enact the character.

Kevin played Curly for 20 years before being dropped from the show, but he returned to the Coronation Street universe for the straight-to-DVD spin-off special, Coronation Street: A Knights Tale.

The former soap star mentioned the possibility of a return during an appearance on Tuesday’s Loose Women, with Katie Piper, Carol McGiffin and Kelle Bryan as well as host Ruth Langford.

Carol started the interview early, saying, “Let’s tackle this: are you coming back?”

Coronation Street fans may soon see a blast of the past on screen, as Curly Watts actor Kevin Kennedy has said he’s “interested” in returning to the series.

Sitting in the middle of the panel, Kevin immediately said, “Oh, that’s right,” adding: “It’s no secret, I want to tell the story.”

He continued: “I’ve always been like that, whether it’s on stage, in music, in movies or TV. So to go back and tell what happened to him, I thought it would be interesting. I think maybe viewers will enjoy it too.”

This comes after Coronation Street confirmed Spider Nugent would return to the cobblestones 25 years after he left ITV.

Martin Hancock will return to the soap screen to reprise the role he played as Emily’s eco-warrior grandson from 1997 to 2003.

Toyah Battersby’s ex-boyfriend is set to start filming scenes this week and will air on ITV in July.

Spider is often interested in Kevin’s Curly character, and he told the newsletter’s Loose Women: “It’s a great move for Martin. He is a good actor and he will do very well.”

Ruth then mysteriously replied: “You never know. Calls may come. ”

The 60-year-old has strongly hinted that he could reprise the character.

Returning to the show, Martin said last week: “Having the opportunity to walk back to the cobblestones is so amazing, I’m so excited to see so many old friends again and learn what Spider has been up to.

“I always wanted to come back at some point and it seemed like the right time. I am eternally grateful to Iain for the opportunity.”

Regarding the decision to bring Spider back to Coronation Street, producer Iain Macleod explained: “Martin is a great actor and Spider is a character with a real legacy and is loved by his fans.

“His return heralds a fascinating new story for Toyah, who will be swept up in a tangle of guilt and secrecy when Spider arrives. Will he be her savior or the one that will ruin her life forever? ”

Dang Quang Street broadcasts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8 pm on ITV channel.
