This morning: Renee Zellweger’s rabbit costume designer requested

British fashion designer Esme Young talked about creating the iconic Bridget Jones’s Diary bunny outfit worn by Renée Zellweger in the 2001 hit romantic comedy.

In the film adapted by Richard Curtis, the girl with the yellow bombshell is decked out in a gorgeous outfit complete with fluffy ears and tails that resemble what she thinks is a Tarts and Vicars party.

But the theme has since been dropped, leaving only Bridget in a busy launch period, which fashion designer Esme created for the American star, now 52 years old.

Esme detailed the creation of the iconic look during an appearance on ITV’s This Morning with co-hosts Vernon Kay and Josie Gibson, who will replace Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield over the Easter break. born.

Esme explained Renée wanted the black bunny bodysuit “to get tighter and tighter”.

She continued: “It was actually too tight for her to sit down. The reason she wanted it tighter was because her character wasn’t really skinny, so she wanted to clone.”

Josie asked, “Did you have to cut her off from it then?”

Esme replied, “She only got it once and then she did.

Esme explained Renée wanted the black rabbit bodycon outfit to be “tighter, tighter and tighter”.

“But, I was doing a little show and I asked if I could put a costume in there and they said yes, but they couldn’t find it.”

Esme then explained her suspicions that the iconic costume, with its rabbit ears and tail, had been “stolen” from the set.

Vernon replied, “Oh no, it would probably be on one of the auction sites where you see props from the movie and stuff.”

Since starring as Bridget Jones, Renée has moved away from romantic comedies, most recently playing serial killer Pam Hupp for an upcoming NBC series.

The true crime drama The Thing About Pam will detail the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria, whose husband Russ was initially wrongfully convicted of murder.

Once cleared, Hupp was implicated in the murder and she was charged with first-degree murder last July.

Betsy’s husband Russell was initially charged with murder, but he was released from prison and awarded more than £1 million in damages. It is assumed that Pam condemned him.

In the new series – set to air next month – her face has been transformed with prosthetics to have a larger jaw and bigger nose, and her hair has been styled into a bright blonde bob.

Chicago, Cold Mountain and Jerry Maguire, the original Texan star, who won two stones to play Bridget, has previously said she doesn’t want to change her shape for another role.

She admits: “My body just collapsed, after years of yo-yo dieting, losing and gaining rapidly.

“I had a panic attack when all the therapists talked about how bad this is for you, in the long run, causing too much weight in the short term and they all said , ‘You must stop or you will die’. “
