A couple who proposed at the Glastonbury Festival at the same time confided to their friends that they were going to propose – but kept it a secret.

Anya and Megan, from Ringwood near Bournemouth, had recently told their friends they were planning to marry one and the other, but the friends had to keep the secret for weeks, they reported Somerset Live.

But when the sun shone down on Worthy Farm yesterday, it was like the stars aligned in their favor as they found a secluded spot away from the crowds, both decided to make an honest woman out of the other.

Anya said: “We met through a friend of a friend one night and have been together for seven and a half years.

“I had told our friends I was planning to ask Megan to marry me in Glastonbury, but obviously she had told them too – so they were in such a weird position.”

“We went to a little quiet place near Circus Field, away from all the crowds, because I wanted it to be quite private.

“I asked the question and Anya said, ‘That’s what I wanted to ask!'” Megan laughed.

Lucky coincidence only shows how well matched they are that planning a wedding will be a breeze. No plans are set in stone just yet, and it likely will be in “a few years,” Anya predicted.

The girls’ close friends who accompanied them to Glastonbury were prepared for the special occasion. A little over an hour after the big moment, they had hung a banner above their tent and brought out “engaged” sashes for the couple.

But they weren’t the only ones whose tent caught the attention of the revelers yesterday. Lorraine, who makes her home on Pennard Hill, was the envy of her fellow campers thanks to a cool teepee tent she bought online.

She said: “I found it on Facebook Marketplace a few months ago. It was only £40 which was an absolute steal as it’s so big and good looking too.

“You might think the quality wouldn’t be very good for this price but my daughter took it to Snowdon and it has withstood all the rain and storms that Wales has thrown at it. I re-waterproofed it just in case for that reason.”

There were also some exotic looking abodes in the healing fields.

A “tent” made entirely of fabric panels provided welcome shade for festival-goers and gave them a place to relax before the dancing began.
