Courteney Cox has shared an eerie story about a supernatural experience that prompted her to sell her home.

he Friend actors appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday to promote the upcoming comedy-horror series Shining Vale.

With Cox’s show involving a house with a scary history, host Jimmy Kimmel asked her if she’d ever had a personal experience with ghosts.

“I already have one,” she confirmed, before describing the former home she owned in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles.

Before it was hers, the house belonged to famous performer Gypsy Rose Lee, and later to Carole King. Cox explained that one day when King visited, the singer-songwriter gave her an insight into the house’s past.

“She said there was a really bad divorce and there was a ghost in the house,” Cox told Kimmel. “And I said, ‘Yeah, whatever.’

“But others who have been there with me, like my friends, say they felt the encounter with a woman sitting on the edge of the bed.”

Despite those comments, Cox still doesn’t take the possibility of a spirit seriously in his home.

However, she changed her mind after a few words with a delivery driver.

Cox said: “I was at home not being a believer one day. And the doorbell rings, it’s a UPS guy or something. And I opened the door and he said, ‘Did you know this house is haunted?’

“And I went, ‘Yeah, why? Why do you think that?’ And he said, “Because someone is standing behind you”. “

In response, Cox said her thoughts on the house have changed forever: “I thought, ‘Sell it.’ I can’t sleep there alone again.”

When Kimmel asked if she really sold her house because of the delivery driver, she agreed.

“You don’t think about it the same way,” Cox explains. “You start seeing things.”
