HOLIDAY abroad comes with all sorts of rules and travel restrictions that can make a relaxing trip abroad that much more stressful.
While Covid testing is expected, some countries have much stricter regulations – here are some restrictions that you may not know will affect your stay.
Maldives – Vivid tests for children over one year old
A family vacation to the Maldives still comes with strict vetting rules, including for babies.
The website of the Foreign Office says: “All visitors (except children under one year of age) must present a negative PCR test for COVID-19 upon arrival in the Maldives.
“Test and negative PCR certificates must be issued no later than 96 hours before departure.”
The strict testing rules for babies are the same as in the United States and Greenland.
New York – Children over 5 years old must be fully immunized
New York has strict rules for young travelers, with everyone over the age of 5g to be fully vaccinated.
The New York City government website confirms: “Beginning January 29, 2022, children 5 to 11 years old must also present proof of full vaccinations.”
Greece – Must wear two masks
Greece has strict regulations when it comes to masks, with everyone having to wear them in all indoor and public spaces.
If you don’t have an N95/FFP2 mask then you must wear two in some parts of the country.
The website of the Foreign Office states: “It is mandatory to wear masks in all indoor and outdoor public spaces, in all regions of Greece.
“In certain areas, such as in supermarkets and pharmacies and on public transport, you will be required to wear a double mask (at least one of which must be a surgical mask). ) or N95 / FFP2 masks.”
Egypt – Easing check-in rules from Heathrow . Airport
If you’re considering a vacation to Egypt, you should try flying from London Heathrow – as you’ll have more time to do your test.
All arrivals must take a Covid test 72 hours before departure, but this extends to 96 hours from London Airport.
The website of the Foreign Office says: “Egyptian authorities have recommended that PCR tests be performed no more than 72 hours before flight departure.
“Passengers arriving from London Heathrow are only allowed to take a PCR test no later than 96 hours before flight departure.”
Spain – Do not accept proof of recovery
Spain introduces new travel rules yesterday will only accept full vaccinations – proof of recovery and Covid tests are no longer accepted.
The Foreign Office website says: “If you are visiting Spain for tourism purposes, you cannot use the UK COVID-19 evidence recovery record certifying that you have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months.”
All arrivals must have had a second impact less than nine months ago, or had had a stronger impact than their own.
