Craig Revel Horwood’s life outside of Strictly – A-list wedding to Shirley Ballas spat

Craig Revel Horwood is best known as a controversial judge on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Away from the glittering dance floor, the 57-year-old professional ballroom dancer lives a very lavish life thanks to his high-flying showbiz career.

He spends his time in Hampshire and owns a sprawling manor house where he lives with his fiancé, Jonathan Myring – whom he is set to marry in the near future.

At Strictly, the judge continues to outrage viewers because he’s not afraid to share his honest feedback.

But behind the scenes, Craig seems more relaxed as he takes the time to unwind and relax at his country cottage.

Ambitious wedding plans

The Strictly star has high hopes for his wedding to Jonathan – and wishes for a high-profile guest list.

He is reportedly planning to invite the Duchess of Cornwall to her big day and is hoping Dame Shirley Bassey will belt out a few songs at the event.

Craig has kept a low profile on plans for his wedding to his gardener fiancé, Jonathan Myring.

But Craig has now said how much he would “love” to have his girlfriend and future Queen Consort Camilla in attendance, and he’s been rehearsing some Shirley tunes in case the singer doesn’t feel like performing.

said Craig Hello! Magazine: “Of course I’ll invite the future queen! I would love it if she were there. She is so funny and a lovely person and will make a fantastic Queen Consort.

“I’d like Shirley Bassey to be there too. I’d be very lucky if Shirley sings, but if she doesn’t I’ll belt out her numbers instead.”

Craig previously said the wedding will take place in August 2023 and the couple now say it will take place in the grounds of their new Victorian mansion, which is currently undergoing renovations and is not expected to be ready in at least a year.

A galaxy of Strictly stars and Craig’s friendly ex-wife have received invitations to their wedding.

But there would have been no marriage at all if Jonathan’s aunt had had his way, as she tried to dissuade her nephew from the “evil” TV judge after forming an opinion of him for not having watched Strictly.

Craig revealed to Hello!: “She tried to talk him out of me. ‘You’re not meeting this Craig Revel Horwood, are you? He’s really bad,’ she warned him.

“But he had never seen Strictly, so he wasn’t aware of me.

“As soon as I saw him, I knew he was the one. We had a 1 hour speed date over lunch – which I would recommend to anyone as I’ve been on 3 hour dates with people I hate – and then set up a meeting two weeks later.

“It was a case of initial attraction, followed by getting to know each other, figuring out where life is going, and then, ‘Are we going to bed?'”

Sprawling Hampshire home – with a touch of Strictly

Craig spends his free time with Jonathan on their stunning shared property.

The luxurious home he shares with his fiancée has all the glitz and glamor that Strictly fans would expect.

It’s like no other celebrity house, with its standout bar, wall of champagne fridges, and eye-catching mask mosaic sculpture.

Bottles of champagne fill the two huge refrigerators set up across from his bar.

The bar is a spectacle in itself, with many different spirit bottles from gin to Smirnoff vodka lined up along the bar – perfect for cocktail hour.

Your living area has an ultra-modern finish with a sleek sofa, huge, airy windows overlooking the garden, and curated potted plants.

The dancer proudly owns a one-of-a-kind giant mosaic mask sculpture that sparkles in the light of his living room.

It adds a cool vibe to another of his living spaces and brings a touch of sparkle to the room.

Outside their home, apple trees with groaning branches adorned with dangling fruit stretch across the garden area.

The couple placed two whimsical sheep ornaments outdoors to add a wild, natural feel to their garden.

Craig and Jonathan invited everyone to their home after getting engaged.

Shirley Ballas slams body-shaming comments

In Shirley’s memoir Behind the Sequins, she discussed comments Craig, 55, reportedly said while promoting his own book in 2018.

Chief Justice Shirley revealed his hurtful comments in her autobiography were “painful” upon hearing what Craig had said about her.

Accordingly The sunhe said at the time: “What happened is that she came to the audition and literally had her thing open up to the navel. I am not joking.

“Her boobs were like La BaZooKa things hanging out. It wasn’t very, um, strict.

“So they came in and sewed it all together. Then they had to push them down… and they’re wrong.”

Reflecting on the comments in her memoir, revealed exclusively by The Mirror, Shirley wrote: “It was awful and very, very painful.

“It brought up a lot of things from my past that I thought I had addressed.”

She went on to claim, “I was once again taken back to my toughest days [ex-husband] Corky when he made comments about my looks: my crooked teeth, my nose, my oversized ass.

“All those insults just came back when I read what Craig had said, apparently in jest. I told him exactly how I felt.”

Shirley claimed he went on to apologize to her – with flowers – and the couple fixed fences.

Craig met Jonathan, 43, on Tinder in 2018 and they got engaged in March 2020 when Jonathan popped the question while they were holidaying in Tasmania.

In April of this year, Craig told OK! Magazine: “Jonathan popped the question while on holiday in Tasmania in late March and it came as a total surprise – even though I almost ruined it all.”

Jonathan explained he had planned a picnic by the river where they could look out for platypus – and he would ask the question as soon as they spotted one of the creatures.

However, he realized that platypuses are “elusive” and changed his plan at the last minute.

He ended up proposing in a bathtub while the couple sipped champagne.
