A car has crashed into people gathered at a food truck after a traffic accident, injuring 11 people in Texas.

Witnesses said the shocking collision sounded like an “explosion” that left two people fighting for their lives on Friday night.

Austin-Travis County EMS crews responded to the scene in which officials said two vehicles had a T-bone crash and pushed one of the cars into a crowd of pedestrians at a food truck, the reported Daily Star.

The incident happened just after 8:15 p.m. in Austin, Texas, and the driver of one vehicle was among the nine who were hospitalized.

A bystander told KVUE that the crash sounded like “like an explosion, like a bomb.”

At least 11 people were injured, it said

Austin’s emergency services confirmed that of the 11 people injured, nine people, all adults, were hospitalized and two people with potentially life-threatening injuries

Two people were examined at the scene and declined to go to the hospital, the public information officer said.

The collision occurred in a popular area near downtown Austin where several food trucks are often stationed.

Eyewitnesses told local media that a white Ford F-250 pickup truck was traveling at high speed and hit a turning Scion tC sedan, with the sedan going off the road and hitting the Holla Mode food truck.

The white pickup then drove onto the sidewalk and into a nearby bike rack.

Police said the roads were not slippery or dangerous in any weather but it was just a “normal Friday night at the ATX”.

Mike Marut, a reporter with KVUEtweeted: “Speaking to a Chuy employee and manager who ran outside right after the incident, they told me they saw people trapped under the silver car.

“Deaf and hard of hearing people were outside, didn’t hear the impact and were hit. The manager described one with a serious leg injury.”

Sgt. Moore of the Austin Police Department said the drivers of the vehicles were cooperating, but it was too early to say if charges would be filed.
