An urban explorer has gone viral after sharing a glimpse of a “ghost town” that time has forgotten.

Gabby, 24, from the US, visited the spooky town with her partner Sonny, 25, and kept the exact location a secret so people wouldn’t destroy it.

The town is believed to have been evacuated after plans were drawn up to build a dam nearby to stop flood damage and bring clean water to the area.

However, fears began to grow among residents when it became apparent that this would lead to the formation of a large lake and many houses would be submerged.

Soon people were displaced for their own safety – but the dam was never built, leaving the city isolated and in disarray.

One of Gabby’s discoveries involved a house filled with posters of gunmen and targets – suggesting the town had a visitor.

“The most shocking thing we found was when we went into one of the abandoned houses,” Gabby told Need to Know.

“We noticed several cardboard cutouts and placards of gunmen with targets on them, suggesting the police had used the house for training purposes.

“Fake bullets and mini paintball markers were strewn across the floor, marking walls throughout the house.

“It’s fairly common for vacant lots to be used for active rifleman or hostage training – but this was the first time I’ve stumbled across such a facility.

“The condition [of each home] varied throughout the city, but most buildings showed signs of disrepair.

“Peeling paint [could be seen] on the outsides and dusty floors covered with rubble.

“One of the houses easily had hundreds of dead ladybugs inside and there was small amounts of graffiti everywhere.

“I was surprised that most of these houses weren’t demolished or seriously damaged considering they’ve been abandoned for so long.”

Gabby filmed the spooky setting and shared the video on TikTok with her 1.6million followers.

In the clip, which received 331,000 views and 35,000 likes, she gives an insight into the remote city.

She pans her camera around while The Walking Dead’s theme song plays in the background.

The clip shows a rusting basketball hoop, an empty “schoolhouse,” and a series of vacant lots.

All lots and play areas are slowly being absorbed by the neighboring vegetation in the Abandoned City.

Users took to the comments to share their comparisons, with many spotting an eerie sight in the background.

Gabby added: “Exploring this abandoned town felt pretty spooky, almost like we were heading to the set of The Walking Dead.

“It felt so oddly still, but also peaceful in a way.

“We didn’t meet anyone throughout the day, with the exception of a few other explorers, as we investigated what had been left behind.

“It was hard not to feel sad for all the families who were displaced from this community — especially considering it all ended up being for nothing.”
