The 37-year-old Manchester United striker has shared the news with his millions of Instagram followers that he and his partner Georgina are home with their newborn daughter

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have shared the first photo of their little girl.

In a post on Instagram, Ronaldo can be seen holding his new daughter and smiling with his four other children and longtime partner Rodriguez. “Home sweet home,” he wrote. “Gio and our little girl are finally with us.

“We would like to thank everyone for all the kind words and gestures. Your support is very important and we have all felt the love and respect you have for our family. Now it’s time to be thankful for the life we’ve just been welcomed into this world.”

The couple said their newborn daughter gave them “strength” afterwards tragic death of his little boy. The two, who were born on April 18, were the fifth and sixth children of the Manchester United forward and followed Rodriguez in giving birth to Alana Martina on November 12, 2017.

Ronaldo first became a father to his son Cristiano Jr. in June 2010 and then became a father to twin boys, daughter Eva and son Mateo, who were born through surrogacy in June 2017 in the United States.

The Portuguese superstar and his partner penned a joint statement It was posted on social media on Monday evening: “It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our little boy. It is the greatest pain a parent can feel. Only the birth of our little girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.

“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated by this loss and kindly request privacy at this very difficult time. Our little boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”

The news comes just weeks after Georgina posted a touching tribute to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner as they anxiously awaited their new arrivals. “Every day by your side is happy and special,” she said on Instagram. “We love you indefinitely. Thank you to the best dad in the world.”

Honors poured in after the devastating news. United responded to the 37-year-old’s social media post by saying: “Your pain is our pain. @Cristiano. Sending love and strength to you and your family at this time.”

Marcus Rashford has also spearheaded the reaction of his Man Utd team-mates by sending messages of support. The striker said: “Thoughts are with you and brother Georgina. I’m so sorry.” David de Gea also posted a heart in response to Ronaldo’s post.

Ronaldo’s sister Katia Aveiro has also addressed the tragedy, referring to her father who died in 2005. She wrote an open letter, which read: “I love you and my heart is with you over there. May God take care of you and strengthen you on the way. Our angel is already on father’s lap. And our little girl is solid and strong and full of health there and will show us every day that love is all that matters.”

Liverpool in addition paid their respects during Tuesday’s league encounter at Anfield as both clubs shared a wide round of applause on the ground in the seventh minute of the clash.

Georgina first met Ronaldo when she worked as a saleswoman for Gucci while the striker went about his business real Madrid. “The good thing is that we live closer to the children’s school. In Italy we lived further away.”

“I didn’t notice a big difference. When you move with the family and move everything, you feel comfortable. We can’t complain about our conditions, quite the opposite. We are very thankful.”
