Crossfire: Legion, the new RTS from Homeworld developers, launches in Early Access this spring

Today, we will learn more about Crossfire: Legion, the new RTS from Homeworld and the Relic veterans at Blackbird Interactive.

You may have forgotten about Crossfire: Legion. The game has been announced in June of last year along with some other games at Prime Matter publishing label reveal event”. At the time, we didn’t learn anything about it.

Now, Blackbird has revealed a lot for us to chew on. For starters, Crossfire: Legion, as the name might suggest, takes place in Smilegate’s wildly popular free-to-play FPS universe. The game features three factions, Global Risk, Black List and an undisclosed third faction.

This RTS brand focuses on macro strategy, inspired by the classics. You will be able to choose a faction leader and use their unique abilities in the field. The factions themselves aren’t completely symmetrical, so you’ll need to change your tactics and adapt.

The developer has planned a roadmap that starts in January and runs through April. Technical testing will begin with two revealed factions and two maps later this month. You will be able to battle other players in PvP, in 1v1 and 3v3.

In February, the game’s third faction will be revealed, and it will join the two existing factions in the first look demo, while also introducing new maps. Ranked game support and ranked game mode will be available in March. Open beta will release in April with military customization support and Mentor Program. The open beta launch also brings with it new maps and modes.
