Crowborough: Application submitted for new business park
Wealden Borough Council has submitted a planning application for a business park on Farningham Road, Crowborough.
The project could start later this year and be completed in the summer of next year.
Last year Wealden councilors agreed to keep the land rather than sell it and instead deliver industrial units totaling around 12,900 square feet of floor space on the 1.8-acre site.
Philip Lunn, Councilor at Wealden District Council, said: “I am delighted that we have now submitted a planning application for Farningham Road which we believe will help alleviate the shortage of smaller units in the Crowborough area .

“The project will provide a valuable opportunity to contribute to the local economy and create employment opportunities. Strategically, the development will allow the council to retain a direct financial interest that could generate an annual income stream and full payback on the investment in the years to come.
“With the planning application submitted we hope to be able to deliver some of the most environmentally friendly commercial premises in Wealden.”
Crowborough Council and Chamber of Commerce believe the proposed business park could meet demand for workspace and attract new businesses which they say the Crowborough area is lacking.
Local residents in the area are encouraged to show their support for the project by submitting their comments on the planning application.
