Last year’s anime NYC was quite the spectacle, as Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama was the guest of honor. Isayama’s appearance was twofold in nature; This was his first ever visit to the US and his first appearance in front of fans since Attack on Titan’s “controversial” conclusion.
Before his stage performance, Isayama spoke along crispy roll in an exclusive interview in which he reflects on many of the manga’s various plot points, such as languages, which he believes would have been prevalent in the universe. Isayama is also reflecting on the manga’s future, saying that he has no plans for future spin-offs, although he has some backstories in mind for Levi Ackerman:
“Regarding Levi, I actually have something on my mind, but at the same time I don’t know if I can write that or not,” he said. “For example, I imagined what the story of Levi would be in my head, but at the same time, whether I’ll be able to put it out, that’s a whole different story, because writing a manga is a really difficult task.” for me it is. ”
One of the more interesting points in the interview is Isayama’s thoughts on whether there are things he would change, at least in relation to the story that AoT tells, to which he replies, “Whenever I look back on the story I’ve written , I have so many things I wish I could have done differently.”
Some other interesting points concern the growth he experienced while writing the manga as he often struggled with communication, although that changed over his time working on AoT. Finally, he talks about horror and Game of Thrones as he is a known fan of Hereditary and might consider making a feature film as he thinks it could make those stories scarier.
Although the manga reached its end years ago, Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3 is slated for release in early 2023.
