Dads and postnatal depression: ‘I had mental images of dropping the baby – contemplating worst-case scenarios’

It’s estimated that around one in seven new moms suffers from postnatal depression and while it used to be something of a hidden condition, many felt ashamed of their feelings or didn’t realize they needed help, but luckily times have changed and there is now a lot of support available.

But research has shown that at least 4 percent of new fathers also experience symptoms of depression after the birth of their child, with just one in five seeking help or support.
