A struggling father is furious after his neighbor decides to leave him a rude note sarcastically saying “congratulations” on mowing the lawn.
Posting on Reddit, the man shared an image of the letter he received from his neighbor, which contained a passive-aggressive dig about the state of his yard — without the neighbor having any context as to why he was growing his weed a little longer growing than it should have in the last few months.
in the letter, reports the Daily Starthe man’s less friendly neighbor asked if he could mow his lawn more regularly in the future as they don’t want his house to “look deserted”.

That Bad neighbor wrote : “Congratulation! you mowed I think it’s been twice this year so far.
“Can you stand it? Maybe weekly? Or at least every other week?
“Your neighbors would be very grateful if your house didn’t look deserted.”
But the US dad had more than enough reason to neglect his outdoor space as he takes care of his newborn baby and five-year-old child while his wife recovers in hospital from postnatal complications.
In the comments on his Reddit post, he elaborated, “Context: I haven’t been able to take care of my garden as well as I would like for the past few months because we had our second child in February and it was me looking after the newborn and our five year old alone while my wife is in the hospital recovering from postpartum complications.
“My garden has never violated city or HOA requirements [Home Owner Association] regulations, and at no time has anyone bothered to address me directly on the matter.
“Instead, we just received this anonymous passive-aggressive letter in the mail.
“They even stamped it and mailed it instead of walking down a few doors and speaking to me like a human.”
Commenters on the Reddit post quickly rallied behind the struggling dad, with many saying his neighbor should have come to his house and spoken to him in person, rather than assuming he was “just lazy.”
One person said, “Nice ‘Welcome to the Neighborhood’ letter. Hopefully whoever it is hears why the mowing wasn’t done and feels bad. i know i would do it
“Congratulations on the new baby and all the best to you and your family. Things are getting easier. Breathe.”
Another added: “You know what would have been nice? If your neighbor had come and asked you if everything was ok and if you needed any help as they seem to have a lot of time staring at your lawn and writing and mailing letters while assuming you are just lazy. “
