Dame Deborah tells her children to ‘marry only for love’ in her last letter

Dame Deborah James told her children she “married only for love” in a letter written to them and her husband before she died.

ame Deborah, also known as Bowel Babe on social media, passed away on June 28 at the age of 40 after contracting bowel cancer.

In a letter written to her husband Sebastien and children Hugo, 14, and Eloise, 12, before her death and later published in The Sun, Dame Deborah wrote: “You can make plans, and you may have goals, but you have to be prepared for the fact that sometimes life is more interesting when you go off track, so be brave.

“Take a chance and come back to yourself.

“Remember to be your number one cheerleader.”

She adds: “Learn to balance your present and present life in the present moment with your plans for the future (although this may be the hardest lesson).

The former vice-chancellor and cancer campaigner also included the letter in her upcoming second book, How to Live When You Might Die.

At the beginning of May, Dame Deborah revealed she had stopped active treatment and was in hospice care at her parents’ home in Woking, with her husband and their two children.

The podcaster was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016 and has since kept her one million Instagram followers updated about her treatments.

Her candid posts about her progress and diagnosis, including a video of her dancing her way through treatment, have won critical acclaim from the public as well as the media. pine.

In a separate section of her letter about her husband, Dame Deborah writes: “I never knew if you could truly have the love of your life, but now I know the essence of the unquestioning love between What are two people?

“I was a fan of him from the first time I met him and I knew I would marry him after our third date.

“It became clear to me that, although he was not perfect, there was something about him that suited me.”

As a result of her campaigning efforts, James was recognized, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson saying: “If any honor is deserved, this is it.”

Dame Deborah later said she felt “honored and shocked” to be considered for the award.

In another surprise, her beauty was bestowed by the Duke of Cambridge, who joined her family for afternoon tea and champagne at home.

Shortly before her death, Dame Deborah revealed that she had completed her second book, which will be published on August 18.

Her first book, F*** You Cancer: How To Face To The Big C, Live Your Life And Still Be Yourself, was published in 2018.
