The Queen received the nation’s “most loving thanks” from a queen of screen and stage.
Ame Helen Mirren paid tribute to the monarch for her “steadfast” leadership over the years following an event to celebrate the platinum anniversary.
The A-list actress, who won an Oscar for her portrayal of the Queen in the 2006 film of the same name, reprized the role of a monarch for a performance in Windsor on Sunday.
Dame Helen said she was speaking on behalf of “a grateful nation and commonwealth” to express her gratitude.
Speaking to the Queen at the Arena near Windsor Castle, she said: “I express our loyalty and appreciation for this celebration of Her Majesty’s 70th Anniversary on the Throne of the United Kingdom and the many other nations in which you are head of state.
“All these years you have carried our nation. You were in his heart, his drumbeat. You have given us purpose and when situations have been challenging your hope, guidance and leadership have been unwavering.
“I address you on behalf of all your loyal subjects. We commend and admire the way you conduct the affairs of state with such skill and sovereignty.
“It is therefore on behalf of a grateful nation and commonwealth that I speak as I extend our heartfelt and loving thanks to you.”
