An unusual musical performance in Spain is said to have inspired the latest photobook collaboration between Dame Julie Andrews and her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton.
ame Julie and Walton Hamilton said they thought about their upcoming book, The Enchanted Symphony, during the first year of the pandemic, after they attended the Concert For The Biocene, in which a string quartet play in front of thousands of trees – one for each tree at Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu.
The Enchanted Symphony is a “hopeful fairy tale,” according to Abrams Children’s Books.
It is set in a village “besieged by a mysterious fog”, but is revived by “a simple boy’s melody”.
Dame Julie and Walton Hamilton said in a statement: “While the fog in our book evokes our experience of the pandemic, it also symbolizes something larger: division. distractions and countless distractions keep us from appreciating what really matters most in life.
“For us, it is family, community, nature and art that bring true beauty and meaning.”
Dame Julie and her daughter have worked together on many other books, including The Very Fairy Princess series and The First Notes: The Story of Do, Re, Mi, based on the hit song from The Sound of Music .
They are also planning a sequel to The Enchanted Symphony.
Abrams says The Enchanted Symphony will be published on September 12.
