Liz Hurley’s son Damian says he is “heartbroken” and “struggling” to come to terms with the death of his mother’s cricket legend, ex Shane Warne.
The 19-year-old actor and model paid tribute to “father figure” Shane, who died Friday of a suspected heart attack.
Shane was found unresponsive at his mansion and medical personnel were called, but despite best efforts, he was unable to be resuscitated.
Damian’s famous mom dated Shane from 2010 to 2013 and was engaged to wed before their split.
And just last year, rumors circulated that they had reunited.
However, Shane denied the reports and hit out at a magazine after suggesting they had rekindled their romance.
His sudden death has caused heartbreak for the family, including Damian, who says Shane was a “father figure” to him.
On Instagram, Damian shared several snaps with Steve, including ones with his mother.
He wrote: “I’m still trying to wrap my head around it…SW was a father figure to me for most of my formative years and was truly one of the best men I’ve ever known. My heart is broken. Thinking of and sending love to all of the SW family.”
Fans rushed to the comments section to offer their condolences after hearing the heartbreaking news.
One person wrote: “Sorry for your loss, sounds like he really is a great guy.”
A second wrote: “Take care. Celebrate him and his life. bless.”
And a third added: “Lovely memories sorry for your loss.”
Liz took to Instagram to pay a heartfelt tribute to her ex-fiancé.
She said: “I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved lionheart.”
The actress and model also shared a series of photos from their three-year romance with Shane, which show the couple enjoying happier times.
The sports star once told the Mirror that his years with Liz were the happiest of his life.
He had confessed: “I miss the love we had. My years with Elizabeth were the happiest of my life. I wanted to be better with her.”
And he also once admitted he was disappointed their relationship was over, adding: “[I’m] pretty sad it’s over because I still care about her very much and she’s a wonderful person.”
Even after their split, Shane and Liz seemed to get along really well, even leaving the odd flirty message under each other’s Instagram pictures.
It has been reported in the past that Shane’s son Jackson had also maintained a close friendship with Liz’s son Damian.
Jackson once said of his dad and Liz, “Whether it’s comments on Instagram, messages, or congratulations, they’re super supportive.”
