Presenter Dan Walker is set to begin the next chapter of his career after leaving BBC Breakfast to become the new presenter for Channel 5 News, where he is set for a huge pay rise.

Former BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker has revealed he feels “embarrassed by the money I make” doing a job he loves.
The 45-year-old will begin the next chapter of his career after deciding to leave BBC Breakfast to become a new presenter for Channel 5 News.
Dan was 18th on the BBC’s highest-paid list, revealed last July, with a salary ranging from £295,000 to £295,999. This is his current role on The Breakfast Show and Football Spotlight – a role he left in April 2021 after 12 years.
Despite his huge salary, he admits he “hates” talking about money and that making it public is “terrible”.

“I hate talking about money. I don’t feel comfortable being paid a lot to do a job I love,” he told Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine.
“I remember the first day a national paper published what I made on the front page. It was horrible.”
Dan shocked his followers in April when he announced he was leaving BBC Breakfast after six years on the red sofa.
He is set to receive a huge pay rise at Channel 5 News, with reports suggesting a salary of up to £500,000, but he has opened up about his humble upbringing and how some members His family member is struggling with a crisis cost of living.
He added: “I feel ashamed for the money I earn. My parents didn’t have money when I grew up. All my clothes are handmade by me.
“At a time when everyone is scrambling to put food on the table, it’s horrible to see your salary on the front page.
“I know even members of my family are finding it difficult to budget for three meals a day right now, approaching the end of the month and having to toast again. I understand it’s a pain. really. I’ve been there.”
He reunited with his former colleague Louise Minchin on his final shift on BBC Breakfast on May 17 as Sally Nugent, who has replaced Louise to sit with Dan since late 2021, bringing the a series of surprises as he bids farewell.
