Dan Walker was so moved by one of his colleague’s parting gifts as an inflatable lobster that he left the set of BBC Breakfast to take it with him.
The presenter filmed his last show in six years on the sofa with current co-host Sally Nugent, and a surprise visit from his old sidekick Louise Minchin.
The production team’s farewell – including his nod to join Strictly Until He Dressed as a Lobster with Nadiya Bychkova, who video-called him to join the choir Best wishes.
Dan, 45, gave a presentation yesterday after getting stuck on an M4 and then having to sit for hours waiting for his electric car to be charged Monday night at a service station.

“I’ve always dreamed of having a job like this and working with people like you, so thank you,” he said.
“It came so much quicker than I thought. It felt a bit eerie, the fact that I won’t sit on the sofa anymore, that I won’t sit next to you after today, that this is mine. the last day. .”
Some of his top moments have been shown including his interview with Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and members of the public describing him as a “6ft 7in ray of sunshine”.
But his fans have no claws to worry about, he’ll be back on screen as a lead on 5 News.
