Dan Walker showed his cheeky side during an appearance on a celebrity edition of ITV’s The Chase, where he smacked the think box of Paul “The Sinnerman” Sinha.
The 45-year-old outgoing BBC breakfast presenter appeared on the popular ITV game show on Saturday, where he attempted to win a hefty cash prize for charity.
He appeared on the show alongside Scottish politician Ruth Davison, reality star Ferne McCann and musician Mark King.
Dan had high goals for his round as he accepted the choice to play a staggering £104,000 after amassing a not shabby £8,000 in the cash builder round.
Before appearing in front of Paul, however, Dan made a joke that amused the show’s stars when the chaser tried to persuade 63-year-old Mark to accept a higher bid.
Show host Bradley turned to the group of celebs for advice after Mark was given the choice to gamble for the £4,000 he raised in the cash builder round, go down £1,000 or around £60,000 to go up.
Bradley, 61, asked: “Dan, what do you say?”
Dan cheekily countered, “Don’t let the man in the white tuxedo get you infected” – which caused giggles in the studio.
Paul himself, however, seemed to see the funny side of the dig, as he managed to grin at the joke as the camera swung on him.
However, Dan escalated his caustic comments when he told Mark, “Your jacket is way better, go four grand.”
But it seems Paul ultimately got the last laugh when he caught Dan on his own lap when he failed to transfer £104,000 and was caught on his last question.
Viewers were disappointed when Dan accidentally got a question wrong, costing him his part on the show.
One follower took to Twitter to attack the BBC star as he tweeted about someone being intelligent, quipping: “You’re not after that shocking appearance in the chase this afternoon!”
But a more sympathetic fan tweeted, “Unlucky chase Dan, great effort.”
While Dan was eliminated, the remaining contestants were successful in the final chase, winning £12,000 to split among themselves and donate to their chosen charities.
Dan fans will already know that he has announced his shock plan to leave the BBC for a new job at Channel 5.
Regarding reports of his departure earlier this month, Dan wrote via social media, “It often happens that the simple truth is far more boring than all the made up ‘moles’ and so-called ‘sources’ make it out to be.”
He added, “In short … a guy with a really good job that he loved got offered a really good job somewhere else that offered an amazing new challenge and an opportunity to shoot some exciting TV.”
