Dan Walker may have left BBC Breakfast, but part of the set made a lasting impression on the presenter.
The 45-year-old uploaded a shocking image to social media just days after joining Channel 5 from the BBC.
And his followers were seemingly unfazed by his disturbing revelation of a “strange” stain.
Posting on his Instagram, Dan showed off a large stain emerging from under the breakfast show’s red sofa.
He was heard saying, “Well welcome to the world of the weird BBC breakfast spot,” before showing off the unfamiliar red spot.
Then a woman can be heard asking what it is before Dan bursts out laughing.
Dan will leave his role after six years to take up the role of Channel 5 News Anchor.
He announced this in a video posted on his Instagram profile. Alongside the clip explaining his big news, he wrote: “Some personal news today…
“It was a big decision for me to leave @bbcbreakfast but I’m really excited to join @channel5_tv & @c5news.
“It’s been a real privilege to work with some great people at Breakfast and I’ve had such a happy 6 years alongside @louiseminchin and then @sallynugenttv and the rest of the wonderful team.”
He ended his post by thanking everyone who left comments on his news.
Among those who wished him the best of luck was Nick Knowles, who wrote: “You will be sorely missed. They were always reassuring, never fearful, empathetic and sought out the good stories and never cheered on the bad.
“Great signing for Ch5 who are showing real ambition and are doing some top shows. I look forward to seeing what you do for her.”
Nikita Kuzmin also wrote: “Good luck my friend,” while fellow Strictly Come Dancing fellow Sara Davies said: “Ouh, changing times! Excited to see what the future holds!”
The next day, he sat on the sofa next to co-star Sally Nugent and responded to their emotional farewell.
He said: “As you know – as I explained to you before any news was released – this has been a really difficult decision for me. Probably the hardest decision I’ve had to make in my career.
“Because I love you more than anything and I love working with you.”
After Sally told him she loved him too, he continued: “And I love the BBC Breakfast team. Those six years that I’ve spent on that sofa have been by far the best six years of my career. But I guess sometimes opportunities come along and you gotta grab them, right?
“I’ve never been motivated by money in any job I’ve ever taken on and while I love BBC Breakfast and everyone who works on the show, it’s a fantastic opportunity to work with a brilliant team at Channel 5. Also, go and do some other programs outside of here.”
