DANCING On Ice’s Ben Foden has been disqualified from tonight’s competition after an intense skating match with Ria Hebden.
The rugby runner-up became the first celebrateer to be dropped from an ITV show after all the judges voted to save Loose Women star Ria.
Former England rugby player Ben performed on Sunday’s show for the first time, delivering a routine to Ricky Martin’s Livin’ la Vida Loca with hip wiggles and jumps.
The jury gave him 23 out of 40 possible points, with Jayne Torvill praising him for his “fun” habit.
But he failed to win enough public votes to keep him out of the bottom two places.
After an intense skating competition, new judge Oti Mabuse told Ben: “I will vote for the couple that takes more risks and is more fun.”
And Ashley Banjo said: “It’s great for both of you, skating is never easy but I chose this one because he incorporated more elements into the skateboard.”
Reacting on Twitter, viewers said: “Shameful pick from the judges tonight. Neither was great but at least Ben skated alone. Think Chris and Jayne are losing the plot. … very unfair”
Another raged: “MILK – looks like ITV can’t let one of those staff members out after the first week! Ben is so much better – he leads and elevates 🙈 indeed he has may have come a long way.”
And another said: “Ria can’t skate without literally hugging her partner, clinging to her partner while Ben is lifting his partner in such a fixed way”
When asked if he was enjoying his time on the show, Foden said: “I really do. Like I said before, this woman (his partner Robin Johnstone) is worth it. amazed, and the very people who created this experience.
“I thought there would be someone who couldn’t skate, but it turned out to be me.”
