Dancing on Ice: Kye and Connor are eliminated

Some Dancing On Ice fans shouted sexism after bosses decided not to replace positive Holly Willoughby with Covid.

Holly attended the show after testing positive but she is expected to return for the live final in two weekends.

Phillip Schofield flew solo on a presenter mission – and that decision surprised some.

Viewers were quick to point out that when he discovered the bug last month, ITV executives were quick to call a replacement.

Stephen Mulhern previously filled out Phil when he caught the virus, but this time another host was not wanted.

Phil opened the show Sunday night with a note to his co-star, the This Morning star, who has been replaced by Josie Gibson today.

He said early on that the group had only just found out about Holly. Mirror Online has approached ITV for comment.

“As you can see Holly isn’t here with me tonight,” Phillip said.

“We found out just a few hours ago that she tested positive for Covid.

“I know what it’s like to watch this show at home, it’s really weird.

“Holly get well soon. Much love.”

But viewers want to know why Phil was replaced in February when he tested positive and Holly didn’t.

One person grumbled: “@dancingonice no problem replacing @Schofe but @hollywills is Disease but no surrogates. Sexist. @Itvstudios.”

Another said: “So when @Schofe isn’t there, @hollywills needs a co-host, but otherwise Phillip isn’t?”

A third wrote: “This week, Holly is the most homesick, and Phil is hosting alone. The implication that Holly is not capable of doing it on her own. Sexist, much @ITV? # DancingOnIce.”

Others in favor of ITV say it was apparently last minute – and it was probably too late to find an alternative source.

One said: “Think more than they’ve noticed Philip has tested positive while she only tested positive this morning? No time for an alternative?”

Another opinion: “That’s because they only found out she was positive for a few more hours and couldn’t replace it in time.”

A spokesperson for Dancing on Ice said last night: “Unfortunately, Holly Willoughby was unable to host tonight after testing positive for Covid-19. We look forward to Holly’s return to Dancing on Ice. Live Final.”
