Dancing on Ice: Phil announces Double Elimination Week
Dancing on Ice will be showing its first double elimination of the series next weekend, it has been confirmed.
Phillip Schofield announced the news towards the end of tonight’s show as he and his co-host Holly Willoughby reflected on what an incredible show it had been.
During week eight of the competition, the remaining contestants paid tribute to skating duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean by re-enacting some of their most memorable performances.
Brendan Cole, Kimberly Wyatt and Regan Gascoigne all received an overall score of 40 after impressing the judges with their recent stints on the ice.
Announcing the news tonight, Phil said: “There’s something our couples don’t know.
“Not one, but two couples will leave us.”
In response to the gasps and groans, Phil quipped, “And everyone was like, ‘Oh my God!’ After the night you gave us tonight too!
“We really think it was one of the best shows, if not the the best we’ve ever had!”
It comes after Stef Reid became the latest star to be kicked off the show tonight.
Stef and her professional skating partner Andy Buchanan found themselves in the dreaded skate-off against Kye Whyte and his partner Tippy Packard.
And it was Olympic BMX racer Kye that the judges decided to save and send to next week’s semifinals.
Paralympian Stef took it by the chin and smiled as she hugged Andy and thanked him for her time on the ITV show.
Dancing on Ice fans were divided over the outcome and took to Twitter to comment.
One person said, “Doesn’t seem fair that Kye can perfect a routine about 6 times and Stef keeps going when she first performs her skate off routine #dancingonice.”
Another joked, “Kai survives his 50th dance of the season #doi #dancingonice.”
A third person tweeted, “These judges are definitely not watching what I’m watching #DancingOnIce.”
