ITV program, is back for its 14th series, which features a list of famous stars from the worlds of television, music, sports and dance.

Sally, 58, said: “I walked to Everest base camp, but it was with a team and I was on two legs.

“The other scary thing I did to prevent breast cancer was I cycled from London to Paris and I swear I wouldn’t do anything when I didn’t have my feet on the floor.

“I have two feet on the floor with this, but the ice is too slippery and that is really scary.

“I was quite afraid of falling on the ice. The thought of it terrifies me. This is the scariest thing I’ve ever done.”

It was Sally’s Everest quest that prevented her from joining Dancing On Ice earlier.

She climbed 17,000ft to South Base Camp in November 2019, raising more than £100,000 to help fight breast cancer. But the dates conflict with her first chance to join Dancing On Ice.

“I’ve been thinking about doing it for a few years, but I climbed Everest and I couldn’t do it,” Sally said.

“I thought if I don’t do it this year I never will. I just have to bite the bullet and do it.

“For me at this age, facing my fear is really important.

“A few years ago I probably wouldn’t do anything scary but as I get older I think I have to.”

Sally – who celebrates 35 years on Corrie this month – will be the seventh oldest celebrity to skate on the show.

Grease actress Didi Conn, who plays Frenchy in the musical, is the oldest at 67. Sally added: “I hope to be an inspiration to older women.

“If you have any chance to do anything, just do it.

“I still feel like I’m 21 so I just think you have to take every opportunity.

Sally will team up with pro skater Matt Evers, 45, and has had to alternate training with her work on the Corrie.

She joined Street at age 22, and her character soon married Kevin Webster. Their roller coaster romance led them to divorce and get married twice.

Now, Sally is married to window cleaner Tim Metcalfe. But the actress really wants viewers to see who is behind the character of Corrie.

“The public will really enjoy seeing me dress differently, so the glitz and glamor will be really interesting,” she said.

“I love the idea of people seeing me for who I am after all these years.

“I’m pretty discreet and I’m not very good with my head on the railing, so this, for me, is huge.

“It scared me a bit because I was so used to hiding behind a character and just being part of Coronation Line but it would be nice if people saw me as me and not my character. ”
