Dancing on Ice judges share climactic moments from the series ahead of thrilling semi-final

The ice might freeze, but the competition couldn’t get any hotter. Tomorrow night Dancing on Ice promises to be one of the most thrilling semi-finals in the show’s history.

Three pairs received perfect marks from the judges in last week’s quarterfinals – Brendan Cole and Vanessa Bauer, Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt and Mark Hanretty, and Regan Gascoigne and Karina Manta.

It was a miracle that had never happened before.

They will enter the semifinals tomorrow with Olympic BMX driver Kye White and partner Tippy Packard plus pundit Alexandra Schauman and The Vamps’ Connor Ball.

Then there’s the famously accident-prone boy band, who performed the entire routine in week three with a cut chin, blood on the bandages, and dislocated shoulder (and in Pirate Week, then slashed in the leg) .

With so much talent, there’s only one thing the judges can agree on when it comes to who will be the winner – it could really be any of these final five.

So now as they prepare for their final hurdles before the final, judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, Oti Mabuse and Ashley Banjo look back on the record series and share their favorite – and shocking moments most shocking – theirs.

And yes, Happy Mondays’ Bez put on their list…..

Christopher Dean

Favorite moment overall (so far): Last week, Torvill and Dean’s last week was really special for Jayne and me. This is our first time doing this on Dancing On Ice and it’s been fun to watch celebrities re-enact our career routines.

Favorite Performance (and Best Move): Regan Barnum’s performance is beautiful to watch. He and Karina really captured the original performance that Jayne and I produced.

We were both emotional watching it. I loved watching them recreate Jayne and me, where Karina was lifted and walked at Regan’s feet.

Best partnership: All partnerships are very special. Celebrities and their skating partners form a close bond and they must completely trust each other. This year, I think we’ve seen some of our strongest partnerships on ice.

The most spectacular autumn: These things happened during rehearsals and we saw both Connor and Bez go through some tough falls. But it is to be expected, the tape may not be forgiving.

Connor was one of the unlucky contestants as he had both his chin and leg cut off and had to be stitched up. It was the first on Dancing On Ice!

The most surprising moment: Bez as Indiana Jones is undoubtedly one of the series’ most memorable performances. I don’t think we know what will happen when he shows up, but it was so funny and memorable!

The most shocking exit: I don’t think we’ve had any of these series, but we do have a few more shows to go and anything could happen.

Funniest moment: All performances by Bez. He really brings his unique style and humor to the tape.

Jayne Torvill

Favorite moment overall (so far): So did Torvill and Dean Week. We love it. Celebrities have such high standards this year, they all perform amazingly. Watching the performances brought back so many memories for Chris and me.

Favorite performance: I really enjoyed Regan and Karina’s performance against Barnum last week. He’s a gorgeous skater and technically one of the best we’ve ever had.

Best move: Certainly Kimberly and Mark were doing the reverse rotation last week. It was the first time we saw that on the show and it was pretty spectacular.

Best partnership: All are special. The partnerships this year are especially strong, and you can see that on the skating level.

The most spectacular autumn: Connor. (All of them). He’s definitely the one with the most falls but has been a real hitter and on.

The most surprising moment: Emotions last week with Regan’s performance. It was beautiful but seeing him so emotional, I also let myself down.

The biggest shock escape: So far not yet, but you never know that there is still time…..

Funniest moment: Everything with Bez! His shows are always fun, he really loves skating and works very hard to improve. He will definitely get a 10 out of 10 for the effort.

Ashley Banjo

Favorite moment overall (so far): Last weekend’s show was probably one of the best ever on any series. Everyone’s skating standards are so high, to get the top three points a week before the semi-finals have to be first.

Favorite performance: Kimberly and Mark’s performance in front of Puttin’ on the Ritz for Torvill & Dean Week last week was truly astounding. I tell them: ‘Sometimes I wish I had 11’ because that’s good!

Best move: I love the intricate footwork that all the rest of the celebs in the competition showed off. Regan is probably one of the best technical skaters we’ve ever had on the show and he’s a joy to watch every week.

Best partnership: I love Liberty [Poole from Love Island ] and Joe’s partnership. The two of them together is a complete vibe and it shows in the choreography. It’s like watching two friends actually skate together every week and I love that.

The most spectacular autumn: Connor again! Connor became our most accident-prone celebrity. He has some serious guts. He had a bad fall right before his third week show and kept fighting!

The most surprising moment: Kye’s first show. Who rides the BMX in skates with fireworks in the back… Kye does it!

The most shocking exit: Ben [Foden, rugby star who was eliminated first] great. His elevator is powerful and he and his partner Robin [Johnstone] do the processes really well. But his departure first just shows us how fierce the competition is in this series. Everyone is great!

Funniest moment: It must be Bez again. Every week, he definitely brings a smile on everyone’s face.

Oti Mabuse

Favorite moment overall (so far): A big highlight for me was having the opportunity to work with Jayne and Christopher on my performance on Props Week – absolutely incredible. [Oti performed a piece from her new stage show I Am Here].

Last week was also a pretty epic show, the choreography on tape didn’t need to be adjusted. Everyone brought their A game and it was fun to watch each of them skate. It’s sad to lose someone [Paralympian Stef Reid] because everyone is so nice.

Favorite performance: I have too much! I think Stef and Andy Buhanan’s heading routine during Props Week was awesome. They worked so well together and pushed boundaries every week, she was an inspiration.

Best move: Iconic header. So far there has been one from Stef and Andy and one from Brendan and Vanessa. I can understand why some people can see through their fingers!

It’s quite impressive. I also love Kimberley’s quick steps on the ice, you forget she’s skating, it’s a joy to watch.

Best partnership: It’s hard to choose, Brendan and Vanessa make it look so easy, Kimberly and Mark have a strong partnership but they all are. You have to put real faith in your partner and you will be a team. It’s lovely to watch these relationships grow each week.

The most spectacular autumn: We never want to see anyone fall, but Connor […] What a soldier, he straightened and continued. He has had such a journey on the show and is definitely the black horse of the competition.

The most surprising moment: Regan is a gorgeous skater and on Sunday scored a perfect score. He was very emotional and that made Jayne and I emotional too. They were in tears of happiness because he was amazing and technically so good.

The most shocking exit: Every week, I’m sad to see someone go. They are all so good, as a judge it was hard to make our decision.

Funniest moment: Bez’s Indiana Jones routine, he’s got into the character and it’s fun to watch! Bez is the King of Performance.

Dancing on Ice continues Sunday night from 19:30 on ITV.
