Before Seriously come to dance pro hit the ice with new partner Brendyn Hatfield over the weekend, after the original professional skater Vanessa Bauer was replaced after testing positive for Covid-19.
Jury and home-watching audiences loved former Brendan and Frankie Valli’s indie performance Beggin’ and The Four Seasons from Jersey Boys, for Musical Week.
Guest judge Arlene Phillips even let her old BBC His colleague scores the first 10 of the series.
Vanessa also cheered for her surrogate and her partner – sitting in the stands after getting Covid-19 negative before the show.
When the program was broadcast, many people were Twitter to discuss how Brendan and Brendyn have worked together – with some suggesting they’d like to see more from the singles duo.
“Too bad I want Brendan to continue working with Brendyn than for Vanessa back. I love Vanessa but the boys get along well. #DancingOnIce,” one fan tweeted Sunday night.
Another agreed, adding: “Brendan and Brendyn just showed what same-sex couples can do!! I love it!! I like Vanessa but I wish he stayed with Brendyn. It’s FANTASTIC !!”
“Do we need Vanessa back in #dancingonice,” mused a third, while one Twitter user bluntly joked: “Vanessa ya fire lol (just kidding) #DancingOnIce.”
Brendan was confirmed to perform with Brendyn earlier this week, after it was announced that his usual partner Vanessa had been dropped with Covid-19.
“I’m disappointed that I’ve tested positive for Covid and won’t be able to perform with Brendan for Musical Week. But I’m happy that Brendan can skate and challenge himself with a worthy pro friend. amazing at Brendyn,” the professional skater revealed on Tuesday.
“I have no doubt they’re going completely broke this Sunday. I’m looking forward to returning to the competition to showcase more creative habits!”
As many viewers loved Brendan and Brendyn’s performance, many missed seeing Vanessa on their screens.
“I’m so glad you’re okay Vanessa, you are always remembered on the ice and hope we’ll see you again next week,” one fan directly tweeted the star Sunday night.
Another Twitter user followed Brendan’s performance and mused: “He’s stumbling around the store…. He’s a bit lost without Vanessa. Inactive, to be honest, just feeling feels like a gala exhibit. #Dancingonice.”
