Alex Murphy has shared her dreaded breast cancer fear after she discovered a lump on her breast.
Professional skater, 32 years old, told her Instagram Her fans found a lump last year in her latest post, when she urged them to “check their breasts”.
She underwent a series of tests before it was finally confirmed that her tumor was benign after a biopsy.
During a Q&A on Her Story on Monday, Alex told followers of her health scare, writing: “Everything is fine now.
“I found a lump on my boob, was referred to a specialist, and I had to have a mammogram, an ultrasound, and a biopsy.

“It came back to being benign so I don’t know – I was referred for some general counselling because of my family history.”
She continued: “It’s horrible, but I think we’re going through the worst right now. I’m recovering from the biopsy, and I’m just mentally exhausted but I’m OK.”
Alex called her husband Paul a “diamond” when she signed her post, and encouraged other women to check their breasts if they noticed something out of the ordinary.

Because Alex was young and healthy, doctors were confused as to what caused the stroke.
After several tests, medical experts in Miami discovered she had a condition called a hole in her heart, which leads to a blood clot in the brain.
She is then faced with the decision of whether to give up her skating career forever.
Alex was told she could take blood thinners for the rest of her life, but had to hang up her skates because she could be at risk of accidental bleeding or surgery to repair a heart defect.
She requested immediate surgery – as she had received an offer to participate in Dancing on Ice in the Netherlands.
The performer went on to win the show, just three months later, after recovering in Florida from her procedure.
