Daniel Craig leads Brits in charge of Baftas after final outing as 007

DANIEL Craig’s final outing as 007 in No Time To Die leads the British roster at this year’s Baftas.

The much-delayed Bond blockbuster, which received critical acclaim when it finally debuted in September, has received five nominations, including one for Best British Film.

Meanwhile, Oscar-winning singer Lady Gaga received a Lead Actress nomination for her role as Patrizia Reggiani in House Of Gucci.

That means the 35-year-old actress is the only lead actress to receive Bafta, Golden Globe, SAG Awards and Critics’ Choice nominations this year.

The sci-fi epic Dune, starring 25-year-old Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet26, is this year’s most nominated film with 11 awards.

Denis Villeneuve’s blockbuster has grossed more than £293 million at the worldwide box office, giving cinema a much-needed shot after the pandemic.

Notably, the role of Diana, Princess of Wales in Kristen Stewart’s Spencer did not receive a single nomination despite being evaluated as a potential lead ahead of awards season.

In the wake of yesterday’s announcement, fears have grown that the Duke of Cambridge, who has served as Bafta president since 2010, might have to see the award-winning film despite hating depictions of the late mother mine.

This year’s ceremony will take place at the Royal Albert Hall, London on Sunday 13 March.

Australian actress Rebel Wilson41, will host the evening after impressing bosses with jokes that are almost knuckles in 2020.
