Daniel Kinahan has been named in a leaked list of “shady” property owners in Dubai – along with ex-pat criminals, tax evaders, Russian oligarchs and other shadowy figures involved in organized crime.
The leaked data was provided by the Center for Advanced Defense Studies (C4ADS), a US-based non-profit organization that researches cross-border crime.
Her special investigation, dubbed Dubai Uncovered, has uncovered a string of suspected criminals who have turned the glamorous emirate into a prime center for money laundering, often through real estate.
They have listed a number of people connected to crime who have bought property in Dubai.
The list includes Daniel Kinahan, who was the focus of C4ADS after he was sanctioned by the US government last month, along with this father Christy Snr and his brother Christopher.
Leaked documents have revealed that Kinahan was the registered owner of a “gorgeous 115 square meter office in the exclusive Jumeirah Bay Tower 3”.
Also listed is Cosmin Codrin, a Romanian businessman convicted of soliciting sex with victims of underage sex traffickers.
In 2018, according to Dubai Uncovered, Codrin received an eight-month suspended sentence and 70 days of community service for soliciting sex from high school-age sex trafficking victims.
“The court found that the girls had been forced to work by a criminal group, including a judge, a police officer, a doctor, a lawyer and several businessmen,” reports Dubai Uncovered.
“In Dubai, Codrin is listed as the owner of four apartments valued at nearly $760,000.
“When contacted by reporters, he said he bought the apartments with proceeds from his businesses. He also denied his guilt in the sex trafficking case.
“‘I was inducted because I didn’t want to testify against people I didn’t know,'” he was quoted as saying.
Another owner is Edit Eva Mikula, the Romanian ex-girlfriend of Italian gangster Fabio Savi.
Along with his brothers, Savi founded the White Uno gang, a criminal organization that carried out a series of robberies and murders in central Italy in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
His girlfriend Mikula was arrested in 1994, cooperated with prosecutors and agreed to report the gang. Savi is currently serving a life sentence.
In Dubai, Mikula is listed with two apartments valued at over $880,000.
“Mikula declined to answer questions about her properties in Dubai, but described herself as a ‘successful woman’ and said her life ‘has nothing to do with White Uno,'” reports Dubai Uncovered.
Another figure with a dark past is Jan Kocka, a Czech businessman and politician accused of tax evasion and violent crimes.
In May 2017, Kocka was accused of participating in a criminal group that evaded paying over $620,000 in taxes. The case is not yet closed.
In July 2021, he was arrested on racketeering and violent crime charges.
In Dubai, Kocka and his wife Kateryina Faberova are listed as the owners of three apartments valued at over $660,000.
Other notable figures owning property in Dubai include Ruslan Baisarov, a Russian businessman close to Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov, and Alexander Borodai, a sanctioned member of the Russian Duma known for being “prime minister” of the self-proclaimed becoming the Donetsk People’s Republic during the 2014 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Other Russians with properties in Dubai include Roman Lyabikhov, a US-sanctioned Communist Party lawmaker, and Dmitry Rybolovlev, a controversial oligarch.
The leak lists Kinahan as the owner of a 115 square meter office in the exclusive Jumeirah Bay Tower 3, just 15 minutes’ drive from the beach.
According to their website, Jumeirah Bay Tower 3 offers “serenity” and “connectivity” for the people who work in the complex.
They write: “With a 55-story central hotel tower forming a prominent centerpiece, the tower exudes a community vibe with manicured gardens, a gold and diamond center, a sparkling lake with a special island, and special events.
“It is surrounded by lakes, streams and landscaped gardens.
“Amenities and facilities include 24-hour security, coffee shop, internet access, restaurants, satellite connection, central air conditioning, lighting and security.”
C4ADS investigators claim the Irish crime boss acquired this property between Spring 2017 and January 2018 and registered it in his own name.
When Daniel Kinahan bought the property, the Hutch-Kinahan feud was raging on the streets of Dublin, resulting in 16 murders.
Two companies that Kinahan has co-founded over the years have listed the same entity, numbered 3005, as their office, according to business records.
